Planning ahead is key, so give yourself plenty of time to apply them—no last-minute rushing, okay?
Here’s a little trick: if you can, apply them right before bed. It’s like sweet dreams and perfectly settling nails, all in one!
After application, try not to wash your hands for at least an hour. If you gotta clean up, reach for hand sanitiser instead.
And remember, follow these instructions closely! Every step helps your nails stay put for longer.Â
Step 1
Before you glue on those nails, try each one on first.Â
Apply a little pressure to be sure they fit OK. If they dig into your skin and hurt then they are slightly to big. You can then grab your little file and file down the sides ever so slightly.
Why? Coz you want them to be comfortable and long lasting. As your nail grows the false nail will lift from your skin and water can enter causing lifting.Â
If you have any problems just flick me an email.
Step 2
Grab your cuticle pusher with the slanted edge and gently push back those cuticles.
Why? Coz as your nail grows your cuticle wont grow with it causing the nail to lift and allowing water to enter under the nail.
Remember, take it easy when you push them back – it shouldn’t hurt at all.
Step 3
Take your buffer and gently buff the top of your natural nail just enough to remove the shine.
Be sure to buff right up close to the cuticle and when buffing the sides pull the skin away so you can buff right up in to the edge.
Why? Coz even the tiniest bit of nail that hasn’t been buffed will not adhere allowing water to enter and cause lifting.
Step 4
Clean your nail beds thoroughly with the alcohol wipe, including the cuticle and sides to remove any dust and oils and wipe the back of the press-on nails as well.
At this point avoid touching your nail beds with your fingers and hold the false nail at the edge so no oils from your fingers are being transferred to the nail.
Â
Step 5
Apply 1-2 drops of glue onto the surface of your natural nail and spread over your nail with the applicator.
There is no need to apply glue to the back of the press-on nail.
Â
Step 6
Apply the press on nail at an angle and push it in slightly under the cuticle area, then lay the nail down onto the surface of your nail bed ensuring it is straight.Â
Press down lightly and hold for 20 seconds. Pressing down too firmly will cause air bubbles and the nail will end up popping off.
Follow preparation steps 1-4 the same as above
Choose the appropriate size tab for your nail and press the sticky side down onto your natural nail.
Rub over the tab for a 10 seconds securing the sides and cutile area well then hold down firmly for 20 seconds to ensure adhesion then remove the plastic film.
Step 6
Apply the press on nail at an angle and push it slightly under the cuticle area, then lay the nail down onto the surface of your nail bed ensuring it is straight.Â
Press down with your thumb and roll from side to side ensuring the whole nail is in contact with the glue tab then use 2 fingers to hold down firmly. Do this for about 30 seconds.
Step 1
Apply some oil and rub well to your entire fingertip including the underside. This will help to lift the nails.
You can use any oil for this – cuticle oil, cooking oil, coconut oil etc.
Â
Step 2
Grab a bowl of warm water (as warm as you can handle it without scolding yourself). Add a couple of tablespoons of oil and some hand wash or dish liquid.Â
Soak your fingers for 5-10 minutes. (You can push them against the bottom of the bowl to encourage lifting. Gently check to see if they are lifting from your nail using your cuticle stick. If you get any resistance, put them back into soak for another 5 minutes or until you can pop them off easily.
Be patient as forcing them off will damage your natural nail.
Step 3
Remove any glue residue on your natural nails by grabbing your little buffer and gently buffing it off.
Remove the glue from the back of your false nails by grabbing the thinner section of your buffer that I have cut off for this porpose in half and file it off. It doesn’t have to be completely off just as long as the surface is smooth.
Tip! You can remove the glue from your false nails a lot quicker with an efile which you can pick up for under $20. Let me know if you want a recommendation.
