Why do I ask you to size your nails?

Because perfectly fitting nails are comfy, long-lasting nails that won’t pop off mid-coffee sip.

Most shop bought and handmade press-on sets come with 20-24 nails—sounds generous, right? Until you realize half of them don’t fit and end up in the bin. Total waste of time and materials. By making you a custom set of just 10 nails that fit like a dream, I save time and cost enabling me to create them at affordable prices for you.

Now, I get it… sizing your nails are a pain in the butt. But do we want nails that last, feel great, and don’t randomly fly off? So let’s get them done so we can move on to the fun stuff!

And the good news? You only have to do it once! I’ll record your sizes for any future orders.

A hand with neatly manicured, bright red made to order press-on nails rests on a white surface. The person is wearing a silver ring with a large, oval white stone on their middle finger.

Ok, so you've convinced me. How do I size them?

When it comes to sizing your nails, you have 2 options – use my free sizing kit or measure them yourself.

Option 1:

You can use my free sizing kit! The kit consists of a card with 12 false nails numbered 0-11 which you try on your own nails and record the matching number for each nail. This option will give you the most accurate measurements.

Just a heads up, if you live locally (Bunbury and Dalyellup area Western Australia – Post code 6230) I will deliver the sizing kit free of charge. If you’re not local, you will need to pay the cost of postage. You can check the cost of postage HERE.

Instructions For Using The Free Sizing Kit

Important! Before you start here’s some tips to help you get the perfect fit.

When sizing each nail the press-on nail should just sit on top of your natural nail, don’t apply pressure. Why?

Nails that are too small –   If you have to apply pressure to make it fit then it is too small. A nail that is too small may get an air bubble underneath leading to lifting.

Nails that are too big – If a nail is too big it will sit on top of your surrounding skin. Not only will this make it uncomfortable to wear but as your natural nail grows the press on nail will lift allowing water to get underneath which can cause bacteria to grow – Yuk!

Nails that fit perfectly – The false nail should be in contact with your whole nail and sit in the groove exactly where your nail bed meets the surrounding skin (sidewalls).

If you have a problem finding an exact match please contact me I’m always here to help.

Using the nails received with your sizing kit find your perfect fit for each nail and write the nail number on the card provided.

Tip! Put each nail back in it’s spot on the card so you don’t get the sizes mixed up. The numbers are stamped on the nails but you need a NASA microscope to see them!

Once you have recorded your sizes take a photo of the card and a close-up photo of your hands (this is so I can so I see if there are adjustments I need to make to the cuticle area of the Press-On Nails).

You can upload them here or send them directly via email.

Option 2:

Measuring The Nail Beds Yourself

Although Option 1 is more accurate I do understand that you may not want to pay for the postage or wait for the delivery of the of the sizing kit.

To measure your nail beds yourself you will need some sticky tape, a fine tipped marker like a fine sharpie or a sharp lead pencil, a tape measure or ruler and a piece of paper.

Instructions for measuring your nails

Step 1

On a piece of paper write down each nail (Left Pinkie – Right Pinkie) so you can record each measurement as you go.

Step 2

The measurement you need to take of each nail is from side wall to side wall and across the widest point of the nail.

Cut a piece of tape approx. 30mm wide. Secure the tape on your left hand pinkie nail to the left side wall of the nail making sure it’s nice and tucked in where your nail bed meets the skin and then stretch the tape across over to the right side wall making sure it’s nice and tucked in where your nail bed meets the skin.

You need to make sure that the skin of the side wall is pushed out of the way as you secure the sticky tape to the nail plate. if you don’t it’s going to affect the measurement.

Step 3

Next using a fine tip sharpie or sharp lead pencil draw a line on each side of the nail in the crease where your nail meets the skin.

Step 4

Remove the tape from your nail and place it on a solid surface (table etc). Then use a ruler to measure between the 2 lines.

Measure all 10 nails jotting down the measurements on your piece of paper.

Step 5

Once you have recorded your sizes click on the ‘Nail Sizes Form’ to upload the information. Also please take a  close-up photo of your hands (this is so I can so I see if there are adjustments I need to make to the cuticle area of the Press On Nail). You can upload the this photo on the ‘Nail Sizes Form’ also.

Note: Alternatively you can take a photo of the piece of paper and close up of your nails and email them to me directly.

Now that's out of the way let's get to the fun stuff!
